Otterbach Forest explorer trail

The Forest Explorer Trail is designed to help children learn about the forest in a playful way and enjoy being active outdoors. At each sta-tion, they are given tasks to solve. At the end of the Forest Explorer Trail is the Forest Classroom. In the summer, outdoor lessons are held here for students from Otterbach Elementary School. The Forest Explorer Trail begins at the Pfälzerwald-verein’s cabin, the Waldhaus Himmelreich. The squirrel logo marks the trail.

Kaiserslautern garden show

The first Rhineland-Palatinate State Garden Show opened its doors in 2000 on the grounds of the Kaiserslautern worsted mill and the municipal slaughterhouse. Since then, the approximately 20-hectare park has hosted a variety of exhibitions and events. The Garden Show is located northwest of downtown and is within walking distance. The grounds are open from April through October.

Ludwigswinkel Barefoot Trail

The Ludwigswinkel Barefoot Trail is a place to relax both body and mind. Over a distance of about 1.6 km, you’ll walk across various surfaces through 10 stations around and through the amusement park.

Handcar Tour

Take a leisurely or brisk ride along the former Glantalbahn railway line through the North Palatinate Uplands, enjoy the scenery, and stop for a break at various stations – the handcar tour between Altenglan and Staudernheim offers all of this.

Time Travel Otterberg

A unique guided tour awaits you in Otterberg. You’ll explore the town aboard a covered wagon while wearing VR goggles. Step back in time to Otterberg in 1284 and experience the town’s development up to 1615 in an authentic setting.

“R2D2” Public Observatory in Zweibrücken

Since 2018, the observatory on the university campus in Zweibrücken has looked just like the famous character from the Star Wars movies. But even aside from that, it has a lot to offer: every Friday, when the weather is clear and cloudless, visitors can observe the sky using a reflecting telescope or a solar telescope.

In honor of the inventor Wilhelm Bauer, who designed the first submarine used in Germany, a model of his “Brandtaucher” stands in Zweibrücken. Bauer worked in Zweibrücken on the development of the oil-powered submarine engine.
