Trifels Castle

Trifels Imperial Castle was once an important political center, as evidenced by the fact that the Imperial Regalia were kept here during the Stauffer dynasty. The castle also served as a state prison, where Richard the Lion-heart, among others, was im-prisoned. Even today, Trifels Castle impresses visitors with its commanding position on the edge of the Palatinate Forest, not far from the border with the West Palatinate.
